About Qcast

Qcast is an interactive video-first platform designed to transform how people discuss, share, and respond to ideas. Instead of static text threads, Qcast uses short-form video “Qcasts” to create dynamic, engaging conversations.

Users can:

  • Explore trending discussions through a clean, visual-first Discover page.
  • Participate in ongoing conversations by recording and editing their own Qcasts.
  • Engage with communities, manage interactions, and track insights through powerful admin and analytics tools.

The portal serves as the core experience for content creation, community interaction, and management, while the mobile app complements it as a more player-friendly platform for on-the-go engagement.

Workshops & Research

The project began with a series of workshops to understand the client’s needs and the people we were designing for.

By defining customer personas, we were able to:

  • Better understand user needs, behaviours, and challenges.
  • Align project goals with real user expectations.
  • Lay the foundation for experience mapping to improve satisfaction.

From initial discussions, we identified six target audiences and narrowed down to four focus groups in our workshops:

  • Admin – Organisation
  • User – Organisation
  • Public – Organisation
  • Pro User – Pro

These personas became our reference point for all design decisions, and we welcomed client input to refine them further.

We followed up with an empathy mapping workshop to deepen our understanding of user motivations and pain points. We also conducted an audit of the client’s existing platform to uncover usability issues and opportunities for improvement.

After the first workshop, we refined our personas and moved into customer journey mapping, breaking down the end-to-end experience. This exercise highlighted key opportunities and features needed in the new Qcast portal.

UX Design & Wireframes

From the fourth workshop onward, we shifted into information architecture:

  • Drafting a sitemap for navigation.
  • Wireframing a master journey that captured all the critical functions of the platform.

Through several iterations across subsequent workshops, we arrived at a Master Journey UX flow and a comprehensive set of wireframes.

UI Design & Design System

Once the UX foundation was established, we transitioned into UI design, gradually applying the Qcast brand identity to our screens.

To ensure long-term scalability, we delivered a complete design system built using the atomic design methodology. This system empowers the Qcast team to:

  • Enable designers and developers to collaborate more seamlessly.
  • Maintain consistency across the platform.
  • Scale features efficiently as the product grows.

Outcome

The result was a user-centered portal design, backed by research, guided by iterative workshops, and supported by a scalable design system. By grounding our work in personas, journey mapping, and UI consistency, we equipped Qcast with a platform designed for clarity, engagement, and future growth.
